The distance from Bredskär fishing harbor to the former coastguard station of Molpehällorna, which nowadays is managed by Metsähallitus, is 6 km, while the distance from the restaurant Strandmölle is 8 km. The distance from Molpe fishing harbor to the station is 8.5 km. Molpehällorna can only be reached by boat.

Previously, the more than two kilometer long Molpehällorna island, consisted out of four different islands, which have been united into one island as a result of the land uplift. The nature of the island is very diverse. There is also a nature trail on the island, which starts near the buildings. The northern trail takes the hiker to the memorial monument of the first daymark of the Gulf of Bothnia, which was presumably constructed in 1668. The daymark was up to 10 to 12 meters high, and it was occupied until 1681.

During the bird nesting time, from May 1st until July 31st, visitors are only allowed to move along the trails in order to disturb nesting birds as little as possible. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times.
