Geological World Heritage Sites in Europe

The Kvarken archipelago has been added to the World Heritage List due to the area's unique geological values. In Europe there are 20 geological World Heritage Sites and three of them are transboundary sites; High Coast/Kvarken archipelago (Sweden/Finland, Pyrénés-Mont Perdu (France/Spain) and the caves of Aggtelek Karst and Slovak Karst(Hungary/Slovakia).

In the whole world there are 66 geological World Heritage Sites of which the most famous are the Great Barrier reef in Australia and Grand Canyon in the USA.
